MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2020
CLAYTON LIBRARY
2:00 PM
- CALL TO ORDER: Renard Chatman called the meeting to order at 2 pm at the Clayton Library. Members present were Jill Britt, LaJean Corbett, Kathleen Stevens, Bobby Sheppard, James Lee, and Renard Chatman. Members absent were Jackie Young and ex-officio, Joe Parker.
- MINUTES: Jill Brill moved to accept the minutes as presented and James Lee seconded the motion. Motion carried.
- PUBLIC COMMENT (Comments limited to 5 minutes): There were no public comments.
- REPORTS
- Circulation: Library Director presented the figures for July and August. (See Attachment.)
- Financial:
- Current Balance Sheets: July/August: Library Director presented the financial figures for these months and mentioned the investments. (See Attachment)
- Budget 2021: Library Director presented the preliminary 2021 Budget. (See Attachment)
- OLD BUSINESS
- Architect – Vidalia – Fred Bennett will be sending another drawing.
- COVID 19 Testing – Clayton Library has had good numbers of citizens participating in COVID Testing 65 to 150.
- Hotspot Policy: LaJean Corbett made a motion to accept the Hot Spot Policy revision as presented. Bobby Sheppard second the motion. Motion carried. (See Attachment)
- Saturday Math Tutor – With Mr. Collins the library will have some Saturdays of math tutoring.
- Bookmobile Fall Schedule – Staff working hard at schools and at residence deliveries.
- Test – Ethics & Sexual Harassment – Board was reminded to sit for 45 minute training at the Ferriday Library on sexual harassment.
- NEW BUSINESS
- Insurance – Cost analysis presented from Reed Insurance and the lower price was accepted with Glatfeilter. (See Attachment)
- Virtual Programs – A list of programs were presented and still working on others for 2021. (See Attachment)
- Hurricane Closing – Library closed for one day.
- Sources/Databases – A new sheet has been created for the schools and for the library webpage.
- Air Filters – Purifiers have been purchased for all of the desk and computer stations
- Summer Reading Evaluations – Library evaluations were sent to state library.
- LEH Grant – Progress is being made on the development of Italian Immigrants and Settlers.
- New COE – A new student worker was received from Ferriday High and is doing well.
- Third Street – Mayor Rydell Turner was contacted about the repair of the street that runs in front of the library.
- NEXT BOARD MEETING Meeting was adjourned and Board was reminded of the Oct. 7th Budget hearing.
